Our Story

My great grandmother Alpheaus Lightford was born May 23, 1927 in Huntsville, AL during a time when things were not easy for African Americans and especially women. Although she faced many challenges, she had a dream of becoming a nurse at an early age. She was inspired by her teachers to live a life of service and this sparked that fire in her to be a light everywhere she went.

Town Hall Registration

Next Event: Role Models: “Career Options & Matching your passion to your purpose”. December 5th at 7PM EST / 4PM PST

Be A Light Inc is committed to providing information to youth and young adults on opportunities about their future. This Town Hall panel with various role models in legal, S.T.E.M., medical, professional trade/entrepreneurship and education is one we know will support that mission. We have pulled together role models in the community with varying backgrounds to show youth and young adults’ examples of career paths, what they can be, and how they give back to the community. We want to ensure each child has options for their future. This platform will provide dialogue about education tracks, finding your purpose, and how that preparation can lead to career opportunities. We hope you will join us for this much needed panel discussion.
